A leading U.S. college with 80,000 students was experiencing a problem getting a handle on their contracts. To address this situation, two years ago, the college selected Omnicom Enterprise Contract Management Software from Omniware. Currently, they have about 40 people utilizing the Omnicom solution and this number is expected to increase in the future.
According to the university’s Director of Business Operations, “we had no central database for our contracts. This was a major issue and made tracking our contracts very difficult. We also had a rampant create your own contract problem. We simply didn’t have very tight controls over our contracts.”
The implementation of Omnicom Software achieved the primary goal of providing the school with a central contract repository. According to the Director of Business Operations, “the biggest thing is that we now have a centralized source for our contract information so everybody is working off of the same page. We no longer have multiple contracts or pieces of paper floating around.” Omnicom also provided a number of additional benefits as well. “The university is definitely seeing an improvement in penalties due to contract expirations and other issues. Omnicom is very solid and we really like the flexibility and administrative capabilities it provides. From an administrator’s standpoint, we now have a lot more control than other vendors we looked at provided. Omnicom’s biggest advantage is its functionality and the control the system gives you.”
Given their size and reputation, when it came time to acquire a contract management software solution, the university had many options. They were strongly committed to choosing the best software package available. According to the Director of Business Operations, “We looked at a total of 10 software packages and then narrowed our selection down to 3 finalists. We choose Omnicom because it is a great system. It gives you more than enough flexibility to tailor it to your own operation. In terms of pricing it was a very good deal. Compared to the other systems we looked at, it’s far and away the best system.”
